Untergang, ocaso, marche aux abîmes, abîmement, decline, extinction

Untergang. Difficile à rendre dans notre langue, parce que ce mot est profondément polysémique. Il désigne en effet aussi bien le coucher du soleil que le naufrage d’un navire, la décadence d’une institution, ou la disparition pure et simple de quoi que ce soit. Heidegger emploie ce mot dans son sens premier: celui d’une «marche inéluctablement descendante». Il semble que s’abîmer, en français, tout en s’étant éloigné de la région de l’abîme, peut laisser entendre quelque chose d’une telle « marche aux abîmes ». [Fédier Fédier
